ARCHAEOLOGICAL TOURS CITY ARICA

Departure from the hotel, we head to Azapa Valley, Cerro Sombrero and geoglyphs of the troop that exhibit natural forms (animals), human and geometric Las Lloysas,The Sacred Hill, The tumuli (burial sites), Pukara of San Lorenzo, ruins of a defensive fortress built with an artificial base, dating from the twelfth century, a vestige of the Tiwanaku influence in the area, visiting San Miguel de Azapa archaeological Museum, which displays the world's oldest mummies belonging to the Chinchorro culture (5,000 BC) and pre-Incan relics dating back 10,000 years. Afterwards we will visit the cemetery, one of the oldest in the world.

From San Miguel we continue through the "Quebrada del Diablo", through which we get to the village of Poconchile with a fifteenth century church and its cemetery. On the way back to Arica you can see rock art (petroglyphs) in Rosario and see the geoglyphs The Frog, The Eagle and The Giant that date back to 1000 AD, in the formative period in the area.
